"Come on, Death? Hell? Surely I'm not that bad."

Well, keep in mind, it's God setting the standards, not you. Who knows, maybe you aren't so bad--compared to someone else. But God isn't judging you based on someone else, he's judging you based on His standards. So basically the "at least I'm not like so-and-so" excuse just ain't gonna cut it.
